Match Report
The King's School, Worcester Girls-U13A vs  Lady Taverners Indoor County Round
On: Wednesday, 31 Jan 2024
Venue: Away

The U13's had a fantastic day out at Worcester University at the Lady Taverner's indoor cricket tournament. We started the tournament off with our first match v Walkwood, which was a successful win after chasing down their total in 3.5 overs, losing only 1 wicket. (Daisy retired due to scoring over 15 runs) After that match, we were feeling very pleased and ready to go in to the second match.

Next up we faced Winsor High who won the toss and put us into bat. We scored 94/3 off the full 8 overs with 3 batters retiring (Tilly, Robyn and Flo). With Winsor High hitting 54/4 in reply. We won and were very happy as we really supported each other and worked well as a team.

We then had our final group game v Christopher Whiteheads who again won the toss and put us into bat first. We totalled 94/2 with Daisy and Flo retiring. After some awesome fielding from the team, including Erin's spectacular left handed over the head catch they scored 27/7.

We then had the final where we were up against Bromsgrove school and knew we had a tough match ahead but deep down we knew we had to have a positive mindset. We won the toss and began with the bowling. We were very satisfied with the outcome. They got a good score of 78 runs but we knew this was achievable going into the batting. We had 3 batters retire (Tilly, Daisy and Robyn) and as we came closer to the final overs we were confident as things were running smoothly. We managed to win in the second to last over and the batters were greeted to the team running on and celebrating. Next time, we will be careful with our overthrows and waiting for the ball in the batting. We look forward to going to regional finals in Birmingham. Well done to Tilly, Florence, Zofia, Daisy, Elin, Erin, Robyn and Issie and thankyou to Mrs Collins for giving us tips to improve throughout the day and for looking after us.
