Match Report
The King's School, Worcester Girls-U12A vs  Bromsgrove School
On: Friday, 29 Sep 2023
Venue: Away

U12A:

On Friday the U12 A team began the match with Elsie firing the ball in to Erin(Captain) who smashed it into the corner. A few good saves later from our goalie Issie, Robin was able to pick the ball up and pass down the line to Erin who scored our second goal. After forcing a few errors Bromsgrove gave away a short corner. With a brilliant injection from Erin to Robyn with a sneaky pass back into Erin went a loud bang in the goal. We had a few close calls in the D but a couple of clearances from Ella and Arya guaranteed our win.

By Issie (Goalkeeper) and Erin(Captain).

U12B:

We started off rough and let a couple of penalties away but then we started getting into space and getting the ball wide. Then we got past defence and Katie C scored a goal.

We also kept space and stopped giving penalties away we ended up scoring 1 more goal we are also getting better at short corners

D team match report

In a historic first-ever match for Mr Borwell’s D(ream) Team of Under 12’s, excitement was in the air as we faced off against the formidable Bromsgrove. The game was a true learning experience for our young players.

The first half saw Bromsgrove take the lead with two goals, while Chloe Harris managed to pull one back with a fantastic solo effort, running past the whole Bromsgrove team! After some heroic defending from Mabel Machin, Lilly Matin and Lucy Marwick, the score stayed at 2-1 to Bromsgrove at half-time.

In the second half, both teams continued to demonstrate their passion for the sport. Although we fought valiantly, Bromsgrove extended their lead with another goal, and the game finished 3-1. Hannah Kehoe, Alice Medlicott and Mila Hulme held down the midfield, with some great tackles and passes but we could not find another goal unfortunately.

While it was not the result we had hoped for in our game, our young players displayed great determination and sportsmanship. This experience will undoubtedly serve as a valuable foundation for their future in hockey at King’s, and there is much to look forward to as they continue to grow and develop their skills.

Special mentions to Bethan Lee, who was chosen by Bromsgrove as their player of the match, and a special mention to Sienna C who was Mr Borwell’s player of the match!

u12 Mrs Neville’s team:

A 5-5 thriller for the U12s!

Elodie-Eve was player of the match.

Our aim was to have fun and we certainly achieved that. All girls played the whole game. Attacking with confidence and defending with pure determination.

What a start to the year!
